Our Spring Schedule at Harry’s Café in Mount Holly
This year we will be open for the month of April and will close Sunday, April 29 - Saturday, May 26 for a spring break. So please make us a part of your Mud Season and enjoy a quieter and more relaxed pace at Harry’s after the busy winter.
A brief note on a Long Life
On November 18, 2006 my dad, Harry Pearce, passed away. He has always been and will continue to be an inspiration for me. His appetite for life and for food continues in my memory and is why in large part that Harry’s is Harry’s. We will miss you, Harry.
Between Men
When I get there
I see my dad.
I get to understand
his quiet encouragement
and long suffering wait
for me to pick up the plow
and do my share.
In this heaven,
the lawn is mowed
when he arrives
on the
Friday night boat.
We greet each other
and hold each other in a look
with warmth and passion
that we keep under wraps
in our men’s club.
Together
we turn our gaze and love my son
and nod to each other
understanding the ripening of a boy’s spirit
and our arrival at
our final stop
of mutual love
and code
that holds us so close
as a father and a son.
Looking forward to the summer
A New Harry’s on Block Island!
Opening in May or June, 2007 in the Post Office Building in Old Harbor
401-466-5400
With the growing pool of talent at Harry’s and Little Harry’s, the time seemed ripe for me to take a “Harry’s” to the beach. My resident chefs who have worked with me for years have reached a point of competence and imagination that allow me the chance to return to Block Island to cook for the season after an absence of 20 years.
The embryo for Harry’s and Little Harry’s as we know it, was developed on Block Island in a restaurant I captained call Tiffany’s. In the four years we were open (1984-1987) we had a lot of fun, served some great food, and made some customers for life. Those many customers, still living and vacationing on BI, seem to be chomping at the bit for our return. Their enthusiasm as I start to develop a new kitchen and staff has been heartwarming and makes me feel like I’m attending a homecoming. We are hoping to earn your patronage again with some of our old Tiffany favorites, as well as some new tricks and dishes we’ve developed in our time in Vermont.
We’ll be serving lunch and dinner. We have about 30 seats inside and the most gorgeous view of Old Harbor from our outside seats. We are walking distance from the ferries. While we do not have a liquor license, it is OK to BYOB. So come with your brown bag.
